Science of Analytical Reasoning

چکیده
There has been progress in the science of analytical reasoning and in meeting the recommendations for future research that were laid out when the field of visual analytics was established. Researchers have also developed a group of visual analytics tools and methods that embody visual analytics principles and attack important and challenging real world problems. However, these efforts are only the beginning and much work remains to be done. This paper examines the state of the art in visual analytics methods and reasoning and gives examples of current tools and capabilities. It demonstrates that the science of visual analytics needs interdisciplinarity, indicates some of the disciplines that should be involved, and presents an approach to how they might work together. Finally, the paper describes some gaps, opportunities, and future directions in developing new theories and models, enacting them in methods and design principles, and applying the resulting tools to significant and complex practical problems and data.

Puzzle test: A tool for non-analytical clinical reasoning assessment
Most contemporary clinical reasoning tests typically assess non-automatic thinking. Therefore, a test is needed to measure automatic reasoning or pattern recognition, which has been largely neglected in clinical reasoning tests. The Puzzle Test (PT) is dedicated to assess automatic clinical reasoning in routine situations. This test has been introduced first in 2009 by Monajemi et al in the Oly...
متن کاملA fuzzy reasoning method based on compensating operation and its application to fuzzy systems
In this paper, we present a new fuzzy reasoning method based on the compensating fuzzy reasoning (CFR). Its basicidea is to obtain a new fuzzy reasoning result by moving and deforming the consequent fuzzy set on the basis of themoving, deformation, and moving-deformation operations between the antecedent fuzzy set and observation information.Experimental results on real-world data sets show tha...
متن کاملرابطهی نمرهی استدلال اخلاقی با ویژگیهای فردی و حرفهای پرستاران
As a result of the changes made in health care systems, nurses nowadays are faced with more complicated ethical dilemmas. Therefore, they need to be familiar with ethical decision-making procedures and have the ability to perform ethical reasoning. The present study aimed to evaluate this ability in nurses and investigate its relationship with demographic characteristics in a subspecialized hos...
متن کاملPROPERTY ANALYSIS OF TRIPLE IMPLICATION METHOD FOR APPROXIMATE REASONING ON ATANASSOVS INTUITIONISTIC FUZZY SETS
Firstly, two kinds of natural distances between intuitionistic fuzzy sets are generated by the classical natural distance between fuzzy sets under a unified framework of residual intuitionistic implication operators. Secondly, the continuity and approximation property of a method for solving intuitionistic fuzzy reasoning are defined. It is proved that the triple implication method for intuitio...
متن کاملMiddle school science students’ dialogic argumentation
Argumentation schemes for presumptive reasoning are used to analyze students’ small group discourse during the evaluation of a science investigation project. Seventeen triads of middle school students participated in a structured 45-60 minute long interview. The broad set argumentation schemes employed by students, such as argument from sign and argument from consequences, suggests that the aut...
متن کاملExpertise & spatial reasoning in advanced scientific problem solving
Visualization and other forms of spatial cognition are considered fundamental to learning and problem solving in science. This assumption is especially prevalent in organic chemistry where imagistic reasoning is considered to be a primary cognitive activity. While previous research has shown that students are aware of several analytical heuristics and imagistic strategies for problem solving, t...
